SoftBase Systems to Unveil Database Archiving Tool at IDUG Conference

Anaheim, Calif. May 2, 2011SoftBase Systems, a leading provider of DB2 z/OS coding, testing and deployment tools that accelerate application development, announced today that it will unveil a new ARCHIVE Facility feature for its TestBase data management solution during the IDUG Conference, taking place May 2-5, 2011, in Anaheim, Calif. While at the show, SoftBase will demonstrate its full suite of DB2 offerings at booth 111.

SoftBase's ARCHIVE Facility, which is included in a TestBase license for a limited time at no additional charge, enables application developers and DB2 database administrators (DBAs) to locate, archive and purge data that is no longer needed from test and production databases.

TestBase, SoftBase's benchmark DB2 test data management solution, enables DBAs, information security officers and IT professionals to define and deploy a data privacy strategy across all testing environments. The software quickly pulls information from enterprise databases while ensuring the data remains intact and secure. Within TestBase, multiple developers can test across the same database region at the same time, verifying that DB2 application enhancements are working properly.

"To meet growing customer demands for efficient DB2 data management, it is important that DBAs and developers reduce testing time without sacrificing application quality," said Gary Blair, president and CEO of SoftBase. "The ARCHIVE Facility feature consolidates multiple data archiving tools into one source, making it easier for administrators to code, test and deploy efficiently. By enhancing our proven data management software, SoftBase continues to create a better DB2 experience."

In addition to ARCHIVE Facility, SoftBase will also demonstrate several of its other DB2 development software solutions during IDUG, including:

  • Batch Analyzer, which summarizes batch jobs and programs and identifies DB2 contention problems
  • Data Slicer, which replaces duplicate DB2 application test beds with a shared testing database that is easier for DBAs to maintain
  • DeadLock Advisor, which identifies the source of deadlock timeouts and updates affected joblogs more rapidly
