Asheville, N.C. — September 15, 2011SoftBase Systems, a leading provider of DB2 z/OS coding, testing and deployment tools that accelerate application development, partnered with IDUG, the worldwide DB2 users community, to sponsor a webinar featuring internationally recognized DB2 expert, author and IBM Information Champion Craig Mullins. The webinar, “DB2 10 for z/OS: For Developers Only”, took place Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 2 p.m. ET.

“Every release of DB2 is chock full of new features and functionality, and that can make it hard to focus on those things that are most helpful for programmers,” said Mullins. “Instead of scanning volumes of manuals, developers in one hour can learn what is most important about DB2 v10 and the best courses of action to prepare for the latest enhancements. Whether you are a programmer wanting to learn more about DB2 10, or a DBA looking for the programmer’s perspective on DB2 10, this presentation will have something interesting and informative to offer you.”

Through this webinar, SoftBase, IDUG and Mullins look to provide a concise but complete guide to the DB2 v10 cost and efficiency improvement DB2 developers can leverage. Mullins’ presentation highlights DB2 10 for z/OS enhancements that directly impact application developers, including how organizations running earlier versions of DB2 with limited features can reduce CPU expenses and overall processing time.

“As DB2 10 for z/OS continues to emerge as the new industry standard, DB2 developers used to previous versions face increased pressure to learn the new platform and migrate quickly,” said Gary Blair, CEO of SoftBase Systems. “We welcome the opportunity to help developers obtain greater value from their DB2 development experience, and are excited to work with industry leaders in IDUG and Craig Mullins to make the migration easier.”

SoftBase Systems and Craig Mullins previously teamed up in 2006 for a similar webinar which discussed tips and techniques for using DB2 version 8 and drew more than 2,000 DBAs and application developers.
